the secret garden II

I was walking outside my house today with my camera, searching for something to shoot. So I came to these trees and examined the leaves, when I suddenly saw this black-dotted-miniature-dinasour-egg-like thing hanging on a single thread of web from one of the leaves. Of course I was intruiged. Any of you seen this before? Is it a cocoon of a butterfly? It's very small, smaller than a penny. Anyways, I had to take a picture of this, so I did. Full view to see the little web this egg thing is hanging from. Alritey, enjoy!

A gazillion thank yous to *saciii on her advice about the orientation of the photo (maybe it would look good if you took the photo vertically, so that it would emphasize the feeling of the little egg thing just hanging there, all fragile and stuff...). This was originally shot vertical but I cropped it, however I tried what she suggested, I totally agree, so this is the original uncropped version. So much bettah. Thank you dear.

Malaysia is tropical, so I would guess you'd see something unusual like a tiny egg-shaped cocoon like this... how absolutely adorable! :D

I think the detail is amazing. At first, I thought you were lucky enough to catch a rain droplet falling from a leaf, but after reading your description I knew that I had to examine this thing much more closely. I couldn't believe the full view at first! I love that you can see the holes in the leaf eaten by an insect previously.

This is just beautiful & different from a lot of things I see you do. Although, I don't think your photographs (or art) fit in any one catergory. I'm glad that you found something so unique in nature. I feel all too often that people just see what is right in front of them, and often bypass the tiny stuff of life. I mean, life is happening right inside that tiny cocoon! I am just rambling now. But thank you. :blowkiss:
