This was taken sometime last year, during my visit to my mom's hometown. There's this beach not far away, so it's a must visit everytime we go back. As I was walking along the side of the beach, admiring its beauty, I came upon this little fish. And it made me feel so sad. It reminded me of those news of the death of people not far from home. Not too long ago, a very young girl, not more than 10 years old, was raped, then murdered while she was on the way back home from a shop, school girls coming back from school, also raped and murdered, the recent tsunami event, where this bus driver was having picnic with his family, and when the waves came in, and he lost 5 of his kids, car accidents that just happen when home is only a few blocks away.. a few minutes away from the people we love.

Death is something I fear alot. And it is never expected. That is why despite how angry I am with my mom, or dad, or my friends, or boyfirend, or anyone else for that matter, I ALWAYS apologize not long after, because we might not see them again, or they might not see us again. I always make sure that each time I leave home, I kiss my mother, and hug her ever so tightly. Never leave home without some lovin, cause we will never know what might happen.

I know this is something sad to think about, but so many of us take for granted of our lives, of the people we love, the people we care about, or the people who care about us. Life is fragile, it can be taken away, anytime or anywhere, and to anyone. Appreciate yourself and appreciate others, while there is still a chance.

Love,
Anna

profoundly sad, great concept. the composition adds to the cast-off appearance of the fish

I feel the very same way. I never leave anyone I love without a hug or a kiss or anything that symbolizes how much I love them ^-^ I really like how you didn't put the fish as the main focus. It makes it more.....uh...I'm not sure what the word is, but yeah. Also very nice colors in this. Very blue...makes it even more sad ;-;

nice image :nod: powerful. i like how its so clsoe in the forefront and there is plenty of beach btw it and the ocean.

eeeewwwww. nice colors though. and the lens bends that beach till it looks like miles from the water. and the clouds being reflected on the beach give it a heavenly feel- like the fishey is in the clouds now. aww. a happy ending for a sad story. me likes it.
keep on trucken' anna. - orion

Deep, I appreciate the explained meaning, and also the feeling it gives me...the overwhelming urge to go hug everyone I know...

Don’t you ever dream of some place better?
Or a life that’s greater?
Don’t you ever feel like you’ve been destined
for something bigger than your skin?

midway thru the pic there's a glas texture that reminds me of the SPHERE --hate that movie hate to reference it but that is such a nice texture. it's a little on the low end of the greyscale...can you bring the midpoint up a bit to make the highlights pop....i like that touch of peach also

*hugs tightly* I understand that feeling; everyday, I think about this. It was taught to me when my mom died, to never take people for granted. I understand your worrying and your aching. You're not alone. *small smile*
