Dewa Dewi means God Godess. This is the entrance right after the 272 steps of stairs before entering Batu Caves located in Gombak, Selangor here in Malaysia. Hindu devotees come here to worship and pray to their Gods and Godesses. During Thaipusam, almost millions of Hindu devotees gather here from all around the world. Tourists also come here to watch this festival. Tourists watch in awe as metal pierces the skin with hardly any bleeding and, apparently, no pain as the devotee stands in a trance in the dawn light after weeks of rigorous abstinence. Click here for more info about Thaipusam in Malaysia.

Every year i've always wanted to go and watch and take pictures of this festival, unfortunately, the roads are blocked, and its very difficult to get there as there are almost millions of ppl who flock there. Someday, hopefully i'll get a chance to take pictures of this magnificent event.

Oh and yes I did climb the 272 steps. Wuhoo, wasn't as bad as I thought it'd be. Alrite please do enjoy.

I like the B&W photos. It's my way of art too, and the sepia's.
Sometimes, these colours can show much more, than a colourized one.
Perfect shot.

The contrast between the light and the dark is lovely. The angle on the figures (statues? Costumed participants) is well chosen. Another wonderful photograph.

As people get older, they forget about what's important. They reach an understanding with reality. They convince themselves that they enjoy what they're doing. That's how the world works."

This is very nice. I like the lack of detail in the distant people, how they are in silhouette. Very nice.
